Basic information:
Implementation of the project entitled "MedExcellence Medical Simulation Center. Excellence in Education" is co-financed by the European Social Fund as part of the Operational Program Knowledge Education Development 2014-2020, Measure 5.3 High quality of education in medical faculties.

The project is implemented by Lazarski University in partnership with the Dr. Anna Gostynska Wolski Hospital Independent Public Health Care Center, in the period from 01.01.2019 to 30.09.2022, based on the grant agreement no. POWR.05.03.00-00-0005/18-00 concluded on 24.04.2019 with the State Treasury - Minister of Health.

The project entitled "MedExcellence Medical Simulation Center. Excellence in Education" is co-financed from the state budget:

  • co-financing from an earmarked grant in the amount of PLN 2,085,060.44 (in words: two million eighty-five thousand sixty zlotys and forty-four cents);
  • the grant is intended to cover eligible expenses incurred by the Beneficiary and the Partner in connection with the implementation of the Project.
Project Objective:

To improve the quality of education in the medical and nursing faculties of Lazarski University through the implementation of an adequate Development Program based on a multi-profile medical simulation center (hereinafter: CSM). The goal will be achieved through the implementation of specific objectives:

  • strengthening of the didactic base enabling practical training by the method of medical simulation - thanks to the creation and equipment of the CSM;
  • Increasing the competence of teaching staff educating at medical faculties by enabling improvement in courses/training/internships;
  • Increasing the competence of students in the practical aspects of the profession through the implementation of part of practical classes in the conditions of simulation rooms, including the participation of a standardized patient and learning based on scenarios prepared by experienced practitioners employed in clinics.
Planned effects:

The direct effect of the project (target state) will be a state in which a graduate of our university - a doctor or nurse - is prepared at the highest level to work in the profession, who, in addition to theoretical knowledge, is proficient in performing practical medical procedures, while having highly developed social competencies.

Lazarski University, thanks to its modern center equipped with highly specialized equipment and qualified staff - will guarantee teaching medicine at a high, world-class level.

General characteristics of the CSM

The MedExcellence Medical Simulation Center is located on three floors: the ground, 7th and 10th floors in Sector F of Lazarski University. The CSM has diverse and innovative technical and educational resources. The teaching base consists of:

The Medical Simulation Center's resources include high-fidelity simulation rooms that have been equipped with equipment typical of specific hospital rooms (e.g., intensive care unit, operating theater, etc.).

 

In order to enable didacticians and students to accurately analyze behaviors, events or verify the correctness of medical procedures performed during classes, these rooms, have been equipped with high-quality video and audio recording equipment. Each of the high-fidelity simulation rooms has a debriefing room assigned to it, with appropriate infrastructure for efficient recording and playback of debriefing files and their secure archiving.

In addition, special control rooms have been set aside to allow observation of the high-fidelity simulation room through a Venetian mirror and communication between the instructor and students.
