Since 1993, we have been building a place in Warsaw where tradition meets a modern approach to education and research. We are one of the oldest private higher education institutions in Poland, and more than three decades of experience form the foundation of our continued growth.
From the very beginning, we have consistently expanded our educational offer, strengthened our research potential and cooperated with the social and business environment. Today, we teach across three faculties, conduct research in four scientific disciplines and form an international community of students, alumni, faculty and partners.
The University currently has three faculties:
as well as two additional units, for postgraduate education (Lazarski Executive Education) and language education (Foreign Language Centre).
Our programmes include:
- bachelor's and master's degree programmes (in Polish and English, and double-degree programmes awarded by Lazarski University and a renowned British university),

History and development

1957
This year Ryszard Łazarski (founder of Lazarski University) becomes Director of the "Studium Stenotypii i Biurowości" (School of Stenotype and Office Work) in Warsaw's Wola district. Thanks to his efforts and the discipline he introduces, the school achieves a high and stable position in the rankings of post-secondary schools and becomes well known and respected on the job market.

1993
The Ministry of National Education authorises Ryszard Łazarski to establish a non-public university named Prywatna Wyższa Szkoła Handlowa (Private Higher School of Trade).
It is granted the right to offer a bachelor's programme in Economics.
The university's first premises are at 9 Chłodna Street in Warsaw.

1996
The University receives its first right to award master's degrees in economics.
Construction of the campus begins at 43 Świeradowska Street in Warsaw.

1997
The Minister of National Education grants the right to offer master's studies in law.
A new Faculty of Law is established. The University changes its name to Wyższa Szkoła Handlu i Prawa (Higher School of Commerce and Law).
The first classes take place in the new premises at 43 Świeradowska Street.

2000
The University's founder and first rector, Ryszard Łazarski, passes away. He made an outstanding contribution to Polish education and was a distinguished hero of the Warsaw Uprising.
Ryszard Łazarski becomes the University's patron, and from then on it operates as Wyższa Szkoła Handlu i Prawa im. Ryszarda Łazarskiego (Ryszard Łazarski Higher School of Commerce and Law).

2003
Through international cooperation with the University of Wales, the first English-language degree programme is launched: "Master of Science in International Business Economics".

2004
The university-wide teaching unit, the Centre for Postgraduate Education, is established.
New bachelor's programmes follow: management and marketing, finance and banking, and international relations.

2006
The Faculty of Law becomes the first among non-public universities to receive the right to award doctoral degrees. It also takes 1st place among law faculties of non-public universities in the Gazeta Prawna ranking. Since then, the University has led the rankings of higher education institutions in Poland.

2008
Through cooperation with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the first English-language master's programmes are established: Master of Arts in International Relations and American MBA.

2010
The name changes to Lazarski University. The expanded Faculty of Law becomes the Faculty of Law and Administration.
The Lazarski University Foundation is established to promote high-quality education. Every year it awards scholarships to talented students and students in need, and supports local communities.

2012
Lazarski University begins cooperation with Coventry University, introducing English-language validated degree programmes that lead to two diplomas: a Polish one from Lazarski University and a British one from Coventry University.

2016
Lazarski University receives approval to run a long-cycle master's programme with a practical profile in medicine.
The Polish Accreditation Committee awards a distinction to the "International Relations" programme of the Faculty of Economics and Management, at first- and second-cycle level with a general academic profile.

2019
The MedExcellence Medical Simulation Centre opens.
By decision of the Polish Accreditation Committee, the medicine programme at the Faculty of Medicine receives a positive assessment.
Expansion begins of the University's Memorial Room of the Home Army "Baszta" Regiment.

2020
The Lazarski University Aviation Simulator Centre opens, operated by Goldwings Flight Academy.
The University signs an agreement on supporting the Warsaw Uprising veterans' community with the Capital City of Warsaw Mokotów District and the Gen. Bolesław Wieniawa-Długoszowski Guard Regiment, with the participation of the Association of Soldiers of the Home Army "Baszta" Regiment and Other Mokotów Insurgent Units.

2025
Teaching begins in the "Psychology" programme.
The Faculty of Economics and Management begins cooperation with the University of Westminster in the United Kingdom, covering double-degree programmes.

Strong Results in the Research Evaluation
We received high categories in all assessed disciplines in the evaluation of the quality of scientific activity for 2022–2025. Legal Sciences and Political Science and Public Administration were awarded category [A], while Economics and Finance and Medical Sciences received category B+.
