Databases and information sources

The databases are accessible from all computers at Lazarski University, via Lazarski Wi-fi and outside the University for holders of an active library account.

 

  • ACADEMICA

The digital interlibrary loan service for books and scholarly journals ACADEMICA is a service of the National Library, offering access to resources that are not available on the open Internet due to copyright protection. The designated terminal in the notified library acquires the status as if it were in the BN reading room. Through it, we can read selected books and scientific journals from the BN's collection, including many monographs of enduring importance in science, articles from contemporary Polish scientific journals, as well as a good deal of fiction. You'll need to communicate with a librarian to start sessions or reserve a selected work for a specific time. In addition, Academica also has the collections of the open digital library POLONA. More information can be found in the Academika reader's manual.

Note: access to the database only possible through a terminal on a computer in the Lazarski University Library, and there is no possibility of remote access!

 

  • Acland's Video Atlas of Human Anatomy

Acland's Video Atlas of Human Anatomy is Lippincott's online platform for access to more than 300 narrated videos depicting real cadavers. Videos can be browsed by volume; each volume is further divided by region for easy selection and reference to syllabuses/lectures. Each film is listed below the corresponding region, along with the film number, title and length.

 

  • CEIC

CEIC collects data from around the world published by statistical offices, central banks, stock exchanges, international organizations and others. Note that the new system uses a private email and individual password for access. Each student/user has a choice of two login options: he can use as a guest only through the University's IP, or register an account. In the second case, the user can create his own notes, and has the option to save his work for later use. There is no limit to the number of accounts created by a user. The new version of the platform allows users to export data to Excel and edit it later. To take advantage of this, download CDMNext Excel after logging in.

 

  • EBSCOhost 

EBSCOhost is a suite of databases containing a total of about 8,000 full-text journals and domain-specific bibliographic and abstract databases. A useful source of information for authors of term papers, theses and dissertations.   • Elibrary database

The Elibrary database of Edra Urban & Partner publishing house is a full-text service of books in the medical sciences. Books selected by Lazarski University are available. To use them, click on the "my bookshelf" tab.

 

  • Emerging Markets Information Service (EMIS)

The Emerging Markets Information Service (EMIS), an economic service, offers deep and comprehensive information on emerging markets. The edition provided at our University covers the region of Central and Eastern Europe and Southeastern Europe. Information sources for each country include economic, financial, political, macroeconomic news, company news, sector news, among other full texts of incoming continuous reports from news agencies, news articles, financial reports, industry reports, stock quotes, statistics, macroeconomic data analysis, etc., obtained directly from leading national and international information sources. For Poland, for example, these are: EMIS Insight, CSO, Oxford Economics, OECD, BMI, PMR, Euromonitor, MarketLine, EIU, KPMG, ARE, BuddeComm, PKO BP, DI BRE, DTZ, IERiGŻ, Analizy BAS, Audytel, Chemia i Biznes, Computerworld, Poradnik Handlowca, Petroleum Economist, OPEC.

 

  • Ibuk Libra

Ibuk Libra is Poland's largest full-text service for academic textbooks and research books. The university's network includes books selected by Lazarski University, most of which are compulsory reading at the faculties: Economics and Management, Medical, and Law and Administration. The Polish-English and English-Polish PWN Oxford Dictionary is available within Ibuk Libra.

  • INFORLEX.PL Expert Premium

INFORLEX.PL Ekspert Premium - a compendium of knowledge necessary for solving legal problems and problems of everyday life. It contains legal acts, bills, Polish and EU case law, interpretations of offices, tax authorities, advice, tips and discussion of problems. It provides access to full texts and archives of periodicals published by Infor.

 

  • Legalis

Legalis Legal Information System contains legal acts, case law, explanations, formulas, as well as full texts of commentaries and monographs published by C. H. Beck publishing house. The database also contains the Private Law System and provides access to the archives of 4 journal titles with full texts of articles. 
 

  • LEX Omega Akademia Premium / LEX Legal Information Service

LEX Omega Akademia Premium / LEX Legal Information Service contains legal acts, case law, procedures and official letters with models, commentaries and monographs, glosses, journals, practical explanations (including European law), handbooks, LEX Criminal Trial Law System, LEX Civil Trial Law System, LEX Labor Law System, specialized packages: Accounting Package, Human Resources Package, Health Care Package, Public Procurement Package, Navigator Administrative Proceedings, Navigator Criminal Proceedings, Navigator Civil Proceedings, Navigator Commercial Law, case law lines, ECHR procedures. The database also includes access to LEX Informator Prawno-Gospodarczego and the Polish Law Bibliography of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

  • LEX Context

LEX Cont ext allows you to use a book in PDF, the appearance of which fully corresponds to that of a paper book. You will find the "Book in PDF" tab in publications such as commentary, monographs, and systems of law. With LEX Cont ext, you easily navigate through the book and quickly find the right passage using the table of contents, text search engine or directly go to a particular page of the publication. With this functionality, you save time by quickly and accurately quoting the selected text passage with the page number. What's more, the entire footnote is generated automatically.

To take full advantage of the LEX Context solution, you must have an active library account and access to the LEX program . The product does not work independently.

The service is available only to those who have an email account in the @lazarski.pl or @lazarski.edu.pl domain after registering an account for themselves in the LEX program using the University's email account. Requests to enable the LEX Context service should be sent to the email address k.wosinska@lazarski.edu.pl.

 

  • LEXOTEKA

LEXOTEKA is a library of interactive textbooks recommended at your University for law students
and administration. It is an intuitive and user-friendly book search system. On this platform you will find current editions of textbooks from all areas of law in electronic form. The content of the publications is linked to legal acts and case law. LEXOTECE includes academic publications, the authors of which are experienced didacticians and outstanding experts in particular areas of law.
The purchase funded by a grant to support the education and research process of people
with disabilities due to existing learning disabilities.

The service is available only to those who have an email account in the domain @lazarski.pl or @lazarski.edu.pl and who complete the statement. Requests to register for the LEXOTEKA service should be sent by email to k.wosinska@lazarski.edu.pl

 

  • Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins

Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins - a leading publisher of medical writing, operating as part of Wolters Kluwer Health. We offer on the Ovid platform the full texts of 75 journals selected under a consortium agreement (plus several open access journals) and eight books selected on a pilot basis as the beginning of a collection of electronic medical books in English.

 

  • MDPI

Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland,MDPI has a mission to foster open scientific exchange in all forms and disciplines. Diverse, peer-reviewed and open-access journals are supported by more than 84,200 academic publishers. 194 journals published in the open access model include Molecules (a title indexed in Web of Science and Medline). The journals' subject areas include chemistry, medical science, physics, biology, engineering, environmental science, sociology, economics, computer science, mathematics and materials science, among others.

  • MEDLINE Ultimate

MEDLINE Complete is the largest database of full-text medical journals available. The database contains more than 2,200 active full-text Journals. Among them are full-text journals without a grace period with the highest usage statistics in the MEDLINE index. The MEDLINE Ultimate database, with archives of full-text articles from 1916 onward, is the authoritative research tool for medical literature and provides access to medical information in general medicine, health care, pharmacology, neurology, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, histology, microbiology and many other areas of medical science. The database indexes more than 5,200 medical and biomedical journals according to the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) medical thesaurus.

 

  • Nature

Nature - one of the oldest, most prestigious and most cited scientific journals. The journal primarily publishes scientific papers on all fields of life sciences and technology.

 

  • Polish Medical Platform (PPM)

Polish Medical Platform (PPM) is a portal for the management of knowledge and research potential, enabling the archiving and sharing in an open access model of full texts of, among others: articles, monographs, chapters, other documents, or raw research data, according to the OA licenses under which they were published. The partners of the EU-funded Project are medical universities from Bialystok, Gdansk, Katowice, Lublin, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wroclaw (Leader) and the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Lodz.

The database is available without logging in for any user.

 

  • Proquest Ebook Central

Proquest Ebook Central is our largest library of e-books (mostly English and with English interface) from all fields of knowledge, but we subscribe to it for its content in the fields of: Business/Management (over 19 thousand titles) and Economics (more than 9 thousand titles). In all fields there are books for browsing, but if they are not marked as "available", the reading time is limited to 5 minutes. Books that are searched by marking "owned and subsrcibed to by your library" can be read online, as well as downloaded. Books from the former Ebrary have entered the database.

 

  • Science

Science - an American science journal. It is highly regarded and frequently referenced in the scientific community. The weekly "Science" was founded in 1880 by inventor Thomas Edison. The primary role of this periodical is to publish the latest, particularly important discoveries in the natural sciences.

 

  • Science Direct

ScienceDirect is a service that makes the contents of about 1,700 titles of scientific journals published by Elsevier B.V. available to beneficiaries of a national license through the Virtual Library of Science. The database is updated on a regular basis, containing about 12 million articles since 1995, but not all of them are available in full-text form. Items with full-text access (in pdf format) are marked with a green sheet mark and Open Access items are marked with an orange mark. The database is hosted on the SciVerse platform, on which a bibliography of the contents of Scopus journals is also made available.

 

  • Scopus

Published by Elsevier, Scopus is a scientific database containing bibliographic descriptions, abstracts and citations from peer-reviewed scientific publications: journals (about 22,000), books, post-conference materials and patents. It provides a comprehensive overview of the world's output in the technical sciences, medicine, social sciences and humanities. Scopus provides tools for tracking, analyzing and visualizing research results. Unlike its main competitor, Web of Science, 60% of indexed titles are published outside the US.

Scopus is a bibliographic database, not a full-text database. However, if you click "View at Publisher," you will be redirected to the publisher's site, which may provide a full-text version of the publication if the University has access to it (through Virtual Science, consortium participation or subscription).In most cases, there will be an option to download a PDF file.

 

  • SpringerLink

SpringerLink is a database containing more than 2,000 titles of scientific journals in: life sciences, business, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, law, social sciences, humanities and others. It was created by merging the journal collections of Springer Verlag and Kluwer Academic Publishers. The book collection also includes a package of archival yearbooks 1997 - 2008. Items in the series with full-text access are not padlocked.

 

  • Web of Science

Web of Science is a database that includes citation indexes. The following indexes can be viewed within the service: Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Science Citation Index, Art & Humanities Citation Index, Conference Proceedings Citation Index. Provides scientometric data. Redirects to full texts held by the University. Journal Citation Reports summary attached.

 

  • Wiley Online Library

WileyOnline Library is a collection of Wiley-Blackwell journals that includes 1,367 titles in the sciences, humanities and social sciences, made available with archives since 1997 on the publisher's Wiley Online Library server. The science departments represented in the database include: Business, Economics, Finance & Accountin, Law & Criminology, Mathematics & Statistic, Nursing, Dentistry & Healthcar, Social & Behavioral Sciences. The database also serves as a tool for orientation in the publisher's extensive book holdings (it is possible to view tables of contents, information notes, indexes, etc., and order) and in the contents of 163 journals published by various scientific societies and not part of the Wiley-Blackwell collection (they can be subscribed to separately).
