The change marks another important milestone in our development and formally recognises our academic, educational and research achievements.
The change has been approved by the Minister of Science and Higher Education and applies exclusively to our Polish name. Our English name remains unchanged: Lazarski University.
Becoming an Akademia marks a higher status within the Polish higher education system. It is also a formal recognition of Lazarski University’s long-standing development and the academic and educational achievements of our community.
Why is this important?
To become an Akademia, a university must meet strict legal requirements related to research achievements and the right to award academic degrees.
Lazarski University not only meets these requirements but has also achieved strong evaluation results in four academic disciplines: Law (Category A), Political Science and Public Administration (Category A), Economics and Finance (Category B+), and Medical Sciences (Category B+).
We are also authorised to award doctoral and postdoctoral (habilitation) degrees in all four disciplines.
A special moment in our history
This change takes place in a particularly meaningful year for our community, as 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of our founder, Ryszard Łazarski. It is a special opportunity to look back at how far we have come and to celebrate everything we have achieved together.
Over the past three decades, Lazarski has continued to grow and evolve. More than 45,000 students have graduated from Lazarski, becoming part of a community that has developed alongside the University.
This achievement would not have been possible without the generations of employees, academics, students, graduates and partners who have contributed to Lazarski’s growth and success over the years. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has been part of this journey and helped shape the community we are proud to be today.
The journey continues
The transition to Akademia Łazarskiego opens another chapter in our history, but our commitment remains unchanged. We will continue to enhance the quality of education, advance research, pursue new initiatives and strengthen Lazarski University’s position both in Poland and internationally.
The name change will also be accompanied by a refreshed visual identity, including a new logo, updated materials and changes across our communication. We will share further information soon, outlining the details of these changes.
