The next research seminar at the Faculty of Economics and Management

Join us on 17 November 2026 for the next event in the scientific seminar series organised by the Faculty of Economics and Management at Lazarski University. This time, the session will take the form of a hands-on workshop focusing on the application of Bayesian methods in econometric analysis.

The November session will be led by Krzysztof Beck, PhD, DSc, an economist and lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management at Lazarski University. His research focuses on international economics, business cycle synchronisation and the application of Bayesian econometric methods. He has published in renowned international academic journals, received awards from the National Bank of Poland and Statistics Poland, and led research projects funded by national and international institutions.

Workshop topic: “rmsBMA: Reduced Model Space Bayesian Model Averaging”

During the workshop, Dr Beck will introduce Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA), a statistical approach that enables researchers to account for multiple possible models rather than relying on a single specification.

Participants will explore the capabilities of the rmsBMA package in R, designed for econometric analysis, particularly when the number of potential explanatory variables is large relative to the number of available observations. The session will cover methods for reducing the model space, assessing uncertainty associated with model selection, and using tools to interpret and visualise results.

The workshop will have a strong practical focus. Working with empirical data, participants will be guided through the key stages of econometric analysis – from data preparation and model estimation to the interpretation and visualisation of results.

Workshop programme:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Overview of Bayesian Model Averaging and the rmsBMA package
  • Hands-on workshop using R
  • Questions and discussion

The workshop will be conducted in English.

Participation requirements:

  • A laptop with RStudio installed
  • The R script provided to participants before the workshop

Date, time and venue:

  • Date: Tuesday, 17 November 2026
  • Time: 3:00–5:00 pm
  • Venue: Room 21, Sector C

We encourage everyone interested in modern research methods and their practical applications in economic analysis to take part.
