Programme description and objectives
International Law and Security is a bachelor's degree programme in Warsaw for those who want to understand the world and make a meaningful impact. Hybrid conflicts, disinformation, migration, sanctions, and great power competition are no longer abstract concepts – they are real challenges shaping today's global landscape.
International organisations, public institutions, and businesses increasingly seek professionals who can understand complex international issues, analyse information critically, and make informed decisions. This programme equips you with exactly these skills.
Combining law with security studies, the programme goes beyond legal theory to show how legal frameworks operate in practice during international crises, geopolitical tensions, and rapid technological change.
From the very beginning of your studies, you will develop practical skills by:
- analysing information,
- verifying sources,
- assessing risks and developing scenarios,
- using professional tools such as OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), forecasting techniques, and data analysis.
This programme is designed for those who want not only to observe the world but to understand it and contribute to shaping its future.
Throughout your studies, you can tailor your education by choosing one of two specialisation pathways:
1.Global Law – for students who want to understand how law operates in an international environment, from international organisations and public administration to business, the media, and NGOs. The specialisation covers international and EU law, human rights protection, the law of armed conflict, as well as geopolitics, geoeconomics, and international sanctions.
2. Intelligence and Security Services – for students interested in national security, threat analysis, and the role of intelligence and security services within the rule of law. It covers intelligence and counterintelligence, information security, terrorism, disinformation, and contemporary influence operations.

Study programme
International Law and Security is a 3-year bachelor’s program combining law (55%) and security studies (45%). It’s an interdisciplinary program taught by experts from our Faculty of Law and Administration and Faculty of Economics and Management.
Courses cover i.e.:
- Public international law and European Union law
- International human rights law and law of armed conflict
- Sanctions, financial security, and global markets
- Disinformation, cyber threats, and contemporary conflicts
Students gain practical experience by:
- Working in the OSINT Lab to verify information and analyze data
- Developing forecasting and scenario-building skills in the Forecasting Lab
- Learning risk mapping and early warning systems
- Participating in negotiation simulations and “crisis room” decision-making games
- Strengthening communication skills—preparing analyses, presenting conclusions, and translating complex issues into clear language
Students choose between 2 specialization paths:
- Global Law – for those who want to apply law in international contexts, from public administration and global organizations to business, media, and NGOs. Covers EU and international law, human rights, law of armed conflict, international courts, market regulations, and sanctions. Includes a focus on law in geopolitical and geo-economic contexts (resources, currencies, trade wars).
- Intelligence and Security Services – for those interested in state security, threat analysis, and how services operate within a rule-of-law framework. Focuses on legal aspects of intelligence, information protection, and contemporary threats such as disinformation, terrorism, and psychological operations. Covers counter-terrorism, international crime, and the role of security services in policy.
Students also explore key regions and emerging technologies that shape global security, including AI, drones, and cyber systems.
