The meeting with Ambassador Jerzy Baurski
The topic of the meeting will be: “Russia's responsibility for crimes during war in Ukraine - role of Council of Europe”
The Council of Europe is one of the most important international organisations in Europe dedicated to the protection of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. In the context of the war in Ukraine, it plays a significant role in documenting human rights violations, supporting mechanisms of international accountability, and initiating actions aimed at securing justice for victims.
About our guest:
Ambassador Jerzy Baurski has been associated with the Polish diplomatic service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more than two decades. He specialises in human rights, international law, and the work of international organisations.
Throughout his career, he has served in several key roles, including:
- Deputy Permanent Representative of Poland to the United Nations Office in Geneva,
- Director of the Department of the United Nations and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
- Head of the team responsible for coordinating Poland’s membership of the UN Security Council,
- Permanent Representative of Poland to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg (2020–2024)
The meeting will begin with a short address by the Ambassador, followed by an open discussion and Q&A session.
