On 2nd June we witnessed a very special show at Lazarski! It was the finale of students’ presentations in the English language. Seven of the finalists (let’s call them: the “Magnificent Seven”: ) argued their cases and tried to convince the jury that they were best presenters.
Mediation should play an increasingly important role in our legal system - this is a conclusion that is clearly obvious based on works submitted to the SJO competition organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Lazarski University Faculty of Law and Administration. The jury was impressed by the accuracy of the arguments and the level of the English language presented by the essay writers.
Knowledge of the English language is now a matter of course and the employer expects that the future employee will use it in such a way as to effectively carry out the tasks entrusted to him. However, the precise determination of the desired level of advancement and confirmation of this fact by the candidate is a completely different challenge.
We discussed the latest changes in the world of online entertainment, namely a ruling by a Chinese government organization that limits online play time for young people to three hours a week. The new rules ban online gaming outside of these hours and limit online gaming time for under-18s to one hour in the evening on Fridays, weekends, and public holidays. Responsibility for ensuring that children play only three hours a week falls largely on Chinese game companies such as NetEase and Tencent. The rules do not include penalties for individual players.
