L.LM.

LL.M. in Transnational Commercial Practice is a programme conducted by Lazarski University together with the Center for International Legal Studies in Salzburg in collaboration with Boston University.

The programme focuses on legal issues in international business and commerce, solving disputes and transborder legal practice. The LL.M. programme for lawyers from outside the US jurisdiction offers a special focus on US law.

Two locations in Central Europe (Budapest and Warsaw) and a two-week session format are a great advantage for those unable to spend a whole year away from their jobs and/or for people who might have difficulties in getting a visa to study in the USA. Programme participants are awarded an LL.M. title by Lazarski University. The best graduates of Lazarski University's LL.M. programme have the opportunity to be awarded the LL.M. title of Boston University.

In order to obtain an LL.M. diploma at the Łazarski University, students are required to attend three sessions (usually held in Budapest and Warsaw).

A diploma requires obtaining 21 credits over three sessions.

The best students can get nine credits through attending a session organised by Boston University that is held in Budapest. The BU sessions are usually held in the second fortnight of June.

In order to receive an LL.M. diploma of Lazarski University, a student can attend all the sessions in Warsaw (over three consecutive years) or all the sessions in Budapest or can combine the sessions, attending some of them in Warsaw and some in Budapest.

The unique academic benefit of this program is that the professors are practicing lawyers. They have international experience, which gives the students a rich opportunity to learn the law from a practical view.

I was wrong when I thought that two weeks at CILS were too short to get to know everyone well. However, not only did I get to know everyone, I also learned from everyone. Our professors had a high level of knowledge… and came down to our level of comprehension, lifting us to their level of understanding. As for my colleagues, we worked as an intellectual family.

This LLM program is unique in that it brings together a diverse group of students consisting of lawyers and business people with a wide array od expertise, as well as from geographical locations with very different legal/regulatory cultures. We interact with professors and seminar speakers during the classes, at the dining halls and in social gatherings during the entire residence period.
