Course description

WHO FOR?

This course is addressed to foreigners who wish to take up studies at Lazarski University next academic year and devote the current academic year to learning English.

The purpose of the course is to prepare the participants to pursue studies in English and reach the B2 level. The course focuses on all language skills (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, grammar, speaking and writing). It also introduces specialised terminology connected with the selected university major - that is necessary to understand lectures and take an active part in classes.

WHAT SKILLS AND INFORMATION WILL YOU GAIN?

The course places main stress on acquiring the skill of correct speaking as well as listening and reading comprehension of academic texts. We also provide writing classes aimed at preparing the students to draft their papers independently.

Course participants may attend selected lectures in their university course as guest students.

Handbooks, additional materials and the teaching methods have all been tailored to prepare the participants to take the IELTS exam.

The course also offers workshops in soft skills, such as negotiations, collaboration and acceptance-refusal, which are organised cyclically twice a month.

TEACHING STAFF

The course is conducted by qualified and experienced teachers of English.

COURSE COMPLETION

The course ends with a progress test conducted at Lazarski University or with taking IELTS at one of Warsaw examination centres. If a participant does not achieve the B2 language skill level required to take up studies, we are offering two-month or one-month English courses.

OPINIONS

"I had learned English during 1 semester. From these 3 points, the semester was satisfying for me. The class was comfortable. Because in the class each student had chance and time for "Speaking" and ask questions. Second is the way of procedure of class was flexible. Teachers prepared related materials for theme, for example Youtube and handout prints not only textbook. There were very helpful for thinking of it deeply, knowing background and sometimes stock of idea for academic essay through it. Finally, specialty of teaching. There had been lots of ideas in each lesson. In case of new theme, how to lead our interest into it, how to proceed, and feedback and homework to settle grammar, new words and phrases. I am sure that it was good for me to improve English and to be next step for the future!" Yusaku from Japan

'What can I learn in your course?' you may ask. Well, a single English class will give you 5-7 new lexical items (expressions, phrases). Imagine what you can learn over 14 weeks (and this is the duration of our course) and you have your answer.

'But is it fun and will I enjoy it?' some may still hesitate. Well, the classes are run by different language tutors so there is something new to experience almost every day. No routine, no boring language drills (well... almost none, anyway :) ), just a friendly and supportive learning environment. What's not to like?

We do our best to keep you happy, busy and stimulated. You just need to take the first step, sign up for the course and we will take it from there. See you soon! Przemysław Cygan, academic teacher of English
