Course description

The course is addressed to foreigners who wish to take up studies in English at Lazarski University during the academic year.

The purpose of the course is for the students to learn gradually academic vocabulary and skills as well as economic and legal terminology necessary to understand lectures and take an active part in University courses while complementing required general language skills at B2 level.

Academic success requires more than just remembering facts, it also needs their in-depth analysis; hence ....

... in our courses main stress is placed on improving speaking skills with respect to both everyday and specialised topics, using appropriate grammar and syntactic structures, and developing reading and listening comprehension of various texts (also of academic nature) and their critical assessment. We also provide writing classes aimed at preparing the students to draft their mid-term and end-of-term papers independently.

Teaching staff: the course is conducted by qualified and experienced teachers of English.

A course beginning one month before the start of the academic year gives the participants a chance (and time) to find appropriate place of residence, get to know the city infrastructure and acclimatise in a new environment.

Course organisers offer their help in "discovering" Warsaw through: visiting the Old Town, seeing the Royal Castle, a historic trip to the Warsaw Uprising Museum, and admiring the Warsaw cityscape from the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science.

The course ends with an achievement test.

All course participants as well as foreign students who did not attend the course but are taking up studies at Lazarski University in the new academic year are obligated to take a language proficiency test. Achieving the B2 level in the test gives the the right to take up studies at Lazarski University without the need to take additional language classes.
