The purpose of the Library is to make it easier to return books, thus speeding up the circulation of books between borrowers. The book drop is used to return books borrowed from the Library by people wishing to avoid a delay, for instance on days and hours when the Library is closed, or for saving time, especially when the patron does not need to pick up a new order. People with disabilities are also encouraged to use the book drop.

The user is supposed to put the book gently into the marked hole. The library, in turn, takes responsibility for re-entering the book into the borrowable collections. Night and holiday loans can also end with putting the item into the book drop. It should not be used, however, for the Reading Room materials lent for 2 hours (they should be returned to the reading room to the librarian on duty).

Library materials returned via the book drop will be deleted from the patron’s account on the next working day (excluding Saturdays and holidays). The patron is obliged to check the balance of her/his account after using the book drop. The late return of library materials via the book drop does not release the reader from the payment of a special fee.

The library asks the reader for explanation if the book returned shows destruction or dirt, which has not been reported earlier.
